From Teddy Jacobson: If you carry a handgun for defense of your life I suggest you think twice before you either cut your springs or install light hammer springs and certainly do not allow anyone to talk you into this kind of situation, YOU MAY NOT LIVE TO REGRET IT. THERE MAY NOT BE A SECOND CHANCE WHEN YOUR LIFE IS ON THE LINE. Having a Novice or a Wannabbeee use a trigger pull gauge tells you nothing but poundage. Don't fall into that trap of BS, I see that all the time.

Commentary: It seems to be common sense three things want to happen when the trigger is pulled:

1. There must be a "bang".
2. A bullet must eject as a result
3. There must be no jam in a semi-auto, or a revolver would be better at that split second.

Also, don't take Teddy's word for it, but check to see what the original gun manufacturer said about it in the manual. You will always note they caution you against changing the design of the gun and using worn parts and improperly fitted parts. Please bear in mind that a gun manufacturer's warnings will be blessed by the Gun Manufacturer's engineering department as to specific cautions.
