Here's my Testimony:
I have a Sako TRG-S file with the Lazzeroni Warbird .308. It's something I've been wanting for a few years and finally was able to afford it. It's a fun rifle to have and I'm still working on finding the bullet that I want to use most of the time in it and doing some fine tuning. One of my concerns was a gun this hot can burn up barrels quickly if you're not careful. The barrel life is supposed to be around 1,000 rounds. That's why I wrote to you about the MolyFusion and if it would really help extend the barrel life.
One of the things I had done to the barrel was to have it cryo'd. Another thing I did, which was from your "MolyFusion Tips and Updates", I ran 10 strokes of J.B.'s bore paste. I did this, just to make sure everything was prepped well and was smooth on the inside. I then removed the paste and degreased the inside, as per your instructions.
- From our conversation, I decided to re-apply the MolyFusion after 60 rounds and will re-apply after every 200 rounds after that. Just to make sure I keep the barrel in tip top shape and minimize any wear. I figure if I wait until I see adverse change, I've waited too long.
I really don't have any before results, since I applied this on a new barrel, but here's what I've found so far: compared to the other rifles I have or have used, cleaning this rifle is a dream. I have never had to use any type of brush through the barrel! I have not seen any copper or moly build up. I've been testing the rifle with both types of bullets. I clean the rifle with
SweetShooter. At first, I would put a patch through after each shot, until I reached 25 shots. Then it was after 3 shoots until I reached 50 rounds total. I repeated this step after I re-applied the MolyFusion. Now I'm running a patch through after 5 shots. I've put around 150 rounds through my rifle. When I'm done for the day, I would go ahead and usually put an additional 4 patches through: 2 wet patches, 1 dry, and finish with another wet patch. The final patch has no residue from the powder or anything, it comes out as clean as before I stuck it in. Again, no brushes. When I've examined it with a good bore light, the barrel inside really shines bright, just like your bore treatment photos.
As far as target grouping results, I'm still working on it. I've found several bullets that are giving me sub-MOI results at a 100yds.
But I'm still tweaking things to see how tight I can get the grouping. When I used a chronograph, the results were what I expected. With a 165gr Sierra I was getting a muzzle velocity around 3690fps. I actually had my chronograph too close (around 2 feet away) and the percussion crack the LCD. I got it repaired, but haven't tried it
again. This time I'll move it back around ten feet. This rifle has a 1:12' twist and was made for distances way past 100yds. So, I'll update you with my results, when I shoot this thing at 200 and 300yds.
I am including a target I recently shot. It was done using the Barnes XLC 150gr. at a 100yds.
I took 5 shoots and had 1 flyer (still getting used to the gun).

The Treatment Oil with 1/8 Moly-Fusion™ is the designed replacement for Sweetshooter™, in both price and in performance and must be used cautiously in comparison with Sweetshooter in some respects as the pure Moly-Fusion, because it is even slipprier. However since it is not acidic like the Sweetshooter, that is better in other areas.
